Hydrogen Energy Case Study
Green Lane Solutions Ltd was approached to assist with an office refit for a new start-up company jointly owned by BP and Rio Tinto called Hydrogen Energy. The goal was to:
- Design & Implement, a resilient Voice & Data Network Infrastructure
- Providing internal Category 6 cabling
- Provide a Telephone system solution
- Include wireless voice and data services
Initial Delivery included:
- Nexans Cat 6 cabling
- Avaya IP Office telephone systems with IP handsets
- Avaya IP DECT system
- WLan provided through Cisco Aironet Access Points (AP’s) all managed with Cisco WLAN controller.
- Cisco switched infrastructure with a resilient dual core using the HSRP (hot standby router protocol)
- In addition, providing APC Ups to support the entire Voice and Data Infrastructure
H.E initially utilised externally hosted Data servers but eventually decided to bring all applications and data storage in-house and GLS were engaged to deliver the solution. The decisions were made to set up an Active Domain with 3 virtual servers using VMware as Virtualisation software. Also upgrading server hardware and the addition of a Cisco ASA Firewall as this provided greater flexibility, security and an upgrade path for the future. It also allowed H.E a secure remote access to facilities including internal video conferencing.
GLS continues to provide a complete IT and Comms support service for the now re-named BP Hydrogen
The Head of IT, Kieron Ridge, said “All works have been carried out to the highest standards and with absolutely no impact to the day to day operation. I would not hesitate to recommend Green Lane Solutions to any of our business associates for their skills, knowledge and professional manner.”
